When Life Hits the Reset Button

I woke up from a peaceful night's rest, only to hear the news that my career has officially ended. In the blink of an eye, seven years of hard work, countless hours, minimum rest, health benefits, 401K, flight benefits just ceased. It feels like mourning your lifelong best friend. I have felt numb and practically in denial. The reality has yet to settle, but I trust this circumstance is not the end, and without my faith, I believe I would be hopeless. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the phrase, "Closing one door means another one opens and usually it's better" or maybe, "God's not done writing your story."

What does one do when they do end up in this scenario? People have told me take time to grieve, rest and process. I have. However, I fall into the category of thinking about future me or "having unemployed too long on a resume hurts your position for future employers." Of course, I have asked God for guidance, and my belief in Him to deliver me from this strange place is outstanding. I believe He has good intentions for me, and I may even be called to new places. I don't know what it'll look like, but I still have so much hope and peace even though I lost my job.

A closed chapter does not have to mean the end.
A closed chapter does not have to mean the end.

Surprisingly enough, I am trusting fully and releasing control. Just like Job's enduring faith has said, "He gives and takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord!" And when He takes away, it doesn't mean that there's ill intent behind it. I am simply blind to future blessings. I am in search of a new career in the same field but also desire to have a failsafe when worse comes to worst. All I have asked prayer for is clarity, vision, not to spiral, and for Him to lead me where He needs me. With that, let the adventure begin!

If you ever find yourself in a pickle where you lose your job and everything you have built your life around crumbles, remember that options are now limitless and God is absolutely not done writing your story. Put your time, effort, and energy into something that builds your resume for ambitions you want as your reality. Pedal to the metal and kick into full gear to pursue relentlessly what inspires you.

It is okay to grieve what was before, focus on the good memories made and reach out to those friends you made in that field, check in on them, support them, encourage them, and remember not to lose site of the next part of your journey! I guarantee that if it is sought after with God on your side, you will find hope in the darkest places, you will be delivered from the mess, and you will receive the blessing in the end.
